Privacy policy

What we collect, what we do not, and what happens when you click a buy link.

Last updated: 31 August 2026

The short version

Volt Wool is a publisher. We do not sell anything directly, we do not have accounts or logins, and we do not want your personal data. What we collect is aggregate analytics about which pages people read, plus whatever you choose to type into the contact form.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which recommendations people find useful. It records things like page views, approximate location derived from IP address, device type, browser and referring site. We use it in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individual readers and we have no way to do so.

We also record when a buy link is clicked, and which product it was for. That is the only way we can tell which recommendations are actually useful, since retailers report earnings per tracking tag rather than per site.

Google Analytics sets cookies. You can block them with your browser settings or an extension, and the site works normally without them. Google’s own handling of that data is governed by Google’s privacy policy.

The contact form

If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list, not sold, and not shared with anyone. There is no newsletter here to be added to.

The form records the time it was loaded and your IP address, briefly and in memory, purely to block automated spam. Neither is stored beyond that.

Affiliate links

Buy links pass through /go/ on this domain before redirecting to the retailer. We log nothing personal in that hop — it exists so every destination lives in one configuration file rather than scattered through the content.

Once you arrive at the retailer, that retailer sets its own cookie to attribute the visit to us. Amazon’s attribution cookie lasts 24 hours. What the retailer collects after that is governed by its privacy policy, not ours, and we receive no information about you from it — only aggregate reports of what was purchased.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or share personal data. There is no arrangement under which we would.
  • We do not run advertising networks, retargeting pixels or third-party ad trackers.
  • We do not have user accounts, so there is no profile to build.
  • We do not send marketing email. There is no list.

Your choices

  • Block analytics with your browser settings, private browsing, or an extension. The site works normally.
  • Avoid retailer cookies by navigating to the retailer yourself rather than clicking through. We would rather tell you that than not.
  • Ask us to delete an email exchange. Email info@voltwool.com and we will remove it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly — the same standard we apply to corrections in our content.
