What this site is

Volt Wool is an independent publisher covering battery-powered heated apparel. We compile specifications that manufacturers publish, convert them into watt-hours and runtime, and publish the arithmetic along with our editorial assessment.

We are not a retailer. We do not sell products, hold stock, process orders, ship anything or handle returns. Every purchase you make is a transaction between you and the retailer, on that retailer’s terms.

What we do not claim

Stated in the terms as well as on every page, because it matters: we do not test the products we write about. We do not own them, we have no laboratory, and we have run no drain tests or field trials. Our conclusions are derived from published specifications and from third-party measurements that we attribute and link. The methodology sets this out in full.

Accuracy, and the limits of the arithmetic

We take accuracy seriously and source every figure we publish. Even so:

• Our runtime figures are ceilings, not promises. Cold reduces the usable capacity of a lithium pack, every charge cycle takes a little more, and wind and movement increase demand. Real-world runtime lands below the calculation.
• Manufacturers change specifications. Packs are revised mid-generation and listings are updated without notice. A figure correct when we published it may not be correct when you read it.
• Prices change constantly. Prices shown come from a live feed with the verification date attached. Whatever the retailer shows at the moment you click is authoritative.
• We may be wrong. If you find an error, please tell us — we will correct it and note the correction with its date.

We publish product specifications so you can bring accurate information to that conversation; we do not substitute for it and we will not issue a clearance in either direction.

Follow the manufacturer’s own safety instructions for any heated garment and its battery. Lithium batteries require proper handling, charging and storage.
