The coverage genuinely is good
Six zones — neck, both chest panels, mid-back and both hand pockets — is more than anything else at this price. The neck element in particular addresses the most commonly cold uncovered area, and one that the standard three-zone layout ignores entirely.
The dual-control arrangement is better thought-through than the zone count. Core and pockets run on separate circuits, which maps onto a real distinction: standing still you want your hands warm, and moving you want your core warm without cooking your hands inside gloves. Being able to run one without the other is a genuine feature rather than a spec-sheet entry.
What six zones costs on a fixed pack
Here is the trade, stated plainly. Zones are wired in parallel. For a given per-element output, six zones draw roughly twice what three do, so the pack empties roughly twice as fast — or, if the controller holds a fixed total draw, each element runs cooler.
