Three product properties worth understanding
1. Fit, and the compression problem
A glove that fits tightly restricts blood flow. For a general buyer that is a minor comfort issue; where circulation is already the limiting factor, it works directly against the product's purpose. This is the main reason we put a mitten at the top of this page rather than a fitted glove: mittens do not compress the fingers, and they let the fingers share warmth.
It is also why the liner format needs a specific caution here. A liner is excellent when there is room for it. Forced inside a glove that already fits closely, it becomes a compression layer, and that is the wrong outcome.
2. Where the element actually sits
Many heated gloves place the element across the back of the hand only. That is the cheapest layout and it warms the hand's blood supply on its way to the fingers, which is not useless — but if the fingertips are what go cold and white, an element that does not reach them is addressing the problem indirectly at best.
Full-finger element coverage costs more and is the specification worth paying for here. It is stated on the listing, usually as a diagram rather than in the text.
3. Control granularity
Three fixed settings is the norm. A continuously variable control — app-based, on the models that offer it — lets you hold a low steady output rather than cycling between too hot and off. For long indoor or seated use, that is a meaningful difference in how the product feels to live with, and it also stretches the small pack considerably further.
Watt-hours, and what they buy
Energy is capacity times nominal voltage. The ceiling draw is the pack’s own published output current times its voltage. The implied draw runs the maker’s advertised hours backwards. Nothing here is measured — check our working.
