ororo heated apparel, and the 2x battery spread hiding inside one brand
ororo is the only brand here that publishes a cross-product battery guide. Read it and you find the thing nobody mentions: which pack you get depends on which garment you buy, and the gap between the smallest and the largest is more than double.

ororo is the largest consumer brand in heated apparel and the only one on this site that publishes a cross-product battery guide — five apparel packs with capacity, voltage and output current for each. That guide is also where the brand's one real problem becomes visible: the packs run from 35.4 Wh to 75.1 Wh, and which one is in your box depends entirely on which garment you bought. The most expensive jacket in the range ships the smallest pack in the range.
The thing ororo gets right
Most brands in this category tell you a milliamp-hour figure on the garment page, no voltage, and nothing at all about how that pack compares with the one in their other jacket. ororo maintains an actual battery guide listing the whole lineup side by side.
| Pack | Capacity | Voltage | Output | Energy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini 5K | 4,800 mAh | 7.4 V | 2.5 A | 35.4 Wh (ororo's own figure) |
| PD 5K | 5,075 mAh | 7.4 V | 2.5 A | 37.5 Wh (ororo's own figure) |
| B19G | 5,200 mAh | 7.4 V | 2.5 A | 38.5 Wh (ours) |
| PD 7K | 7,000 mAh | 7.27 V * | 3 A | 50.9 Wh (ours) |
| PD 10K | 10,150 mAh | 7.4 V | 2.5 A | 75.1 Wh (ours) |
* The PD 7K's own product page gives 7.27 V while ororo's battery guide lists it at 7.4 V. We use the product page's figure. The 2% disagreement moves the energy from 51.8 Wh to 50.9 Wh — small, but it is the kind of thing this site exists to notice.
ororo also prints watt-hours outright on some product pages — "4800 mAh, 7.4V, and 35.4Wh" for the Mini 5K. Among apparel-first brands only Gobi Heat and Venustas otherwise do that. It is genuinely good practice.

ororo Men's 5-Zone Dual-Control Heated Jacket with Sleeve Heating
Five zones including both arms, with core and arm heat on separate controls — which turns the usual sleeve-heating objection on its head, because you can simply stop paying for the arms.

The numbers
- Energy
- 37.6 Wh
- Maker's stated energy
- PD 5K — 5,075 mAh at 7.4 V, about 37.6 Wh
- Arms heated
- Yes — 2 of the 5 zones, independently switched
- Control
- Dual — core and arms separately
- Shell
- Water and wind resistant
- Heat zones
- Left and right chest, left and right arm, and upper-back — ororo's own wording is "Five Heating Zones: left & right chest, left & right arm, and upper-back"
- Settings
- Three — high, medium and low, with core and arms controlled separately
- Care
- Machine washable with the battery removed, per ororo
On wattage: Not published for this garment. The structural point matters more than a number here: because the arms are on a separate control, the same pack can be spent on three core zones instead of five, and that choice is yours to make mid-day rather than at the checkout. Almost every other heated jacket forces the whole zone set on at once.
On the pack: Takes ororo's PD 5K, which ororo publishes as 5,075 mAh at 7.4 V and which its own guide says has "been tested to provide up to 10 hours of heating" — the only runtime figure ororo attaches to a specific pack. Note that figure is for the pack generally, not for this garment with all five zones running.
What we like
- Dual control is genuinely rare: you can run the core only and keep the arms off to stretch the pack
- Heated sleeves at all, which most jackets in this category skip
- ororo publishes the zone locations precisely rather than saying "5 zones" and leaving it there
- The PD 5K is a mid-sized pack rather than the Mini 5K ororo puts in some pricier garments
What we do not
- No runtime published for this garment in any zone configuration
- No wattage published, so the cost of switching the arms on is not quantified anywhere
- Five zones on about 37.6 Wh is a modest energy budget once everything is running
- A softshell, so it is a layering piece rather than a winter coat
Who this suits
Someone who wants heated arms but resents paying for them all day, and will actually use the second control.
Who should skip it
You will leave everything on high regardless. The dual control is the entire reason to pick this over a cheaper three-zone ororo.

ororo Men's Soft Shell Heated Jacket
The clearest power story in the category: ororo publishes capacity and voltage for every pack it sells, so you can work out what you are getting instead of taking a marketing number on faith.
The numbers
- Energy
- 38.5 Wh
- Pack
- 7.4 V, 5,200 mAh (ororo B19G)
- Published output
- 2.5 A
- Heat zones
- 3
- Maker's runtime claim
- 8-10 h low / 5-6 h medium / 2-3 h high
- Heat zones
- Left and right chest, mid-back
- Settings
- Three, cycled from a single chest button
- Care
- Machine washable with the battery removed
On wattage: ororo publishes no wattage for the garment. It does publish hours for each of the three settings, which states the draw whether it meant to or not.
What we like
- ororo publishes capacity AND voltage for every pack, which almost nobody else in this category does
- Per-setting runtime claims rather than one 'up to' number, so the low-to-high spread is visible before you buy
- Soft-shell cut layers under a work coat without bulk
What we do not
- No published wattage for the garment itself
- Three zones only — nothing at the arms or the kidneys
- The headline runtime figure is the low setting, as it is everywhere
Who this suits
Someone standing still outdoors for two to four hours at a stretch who wants the power figures on the table before buying.
Who should skip it
You need heat for a full eight-hour shift on high. No 38 Wh pack does that, and this one does not claim to.

ororo Men's Heated Down Jacket (750-Fill RDS Down)
The only genuine 750-fill down garment on this site, and the clearest illustration of ororo's one real problem: the most expensive jacket in the range ships the smallest pack in the range.
#ad Price as of October 17, 2026. How we are funded.
The numbers
- Energy
- 35.5 Wh
- Maker's stated energy
- 4,800 mAh, published by ororo as 35.4 Wh
- Insulation
- 90% 750-fill power duck down, RDS certified
- Hood
- 3-piece adjustable, detachable, down-filled
- Pockets
- Five YKK zippered, including an interior battery pocket
- Heat zones
- Left and right pocket, collar and mid-back, per ororo
- Settings
- Three — high, medium and low. No temperatures published
- Care
- Machine washable with the battery removed, per ororo
On wattage: No runtime and no wattage are published for this specific garment, which is a gap on a product where the pack is unusually small. What can be said is structural: 35.4 Wh across four zones is the least energy per zone of any ororo garment, and the down is doing most of the work. That is not a criticism of the jacket so much as a reason to buy a second pack with it.
On the pack: Ships the Mini 5K, which ororo publishes as "4800 mAh, 7.4V, and 35.4Wh" — the SMALLEST pack in ororo's apparel lineup, on its priciest jacket. ororo's own guide lists four larger options. Charges in about 4 hours on the included 5V 3A charger and is rated for roughly 800 recharge cycles.
What we like
- Genuine 750-fill RDS-certified duck down — no other garment on this site offers real down at this fill power
- Heated pockets and a collar zone, which is where hands and neck actually get cold
- ororo publishes the watt-hours for the included pack, which most brands never do
- Detachable down hood and five YKK pockets make it a usable coat before the heat is switched on
What we do not
- Ships ororo's SMALLEST pack at 35.4 Wh, on ororo's most expensive jacket
- No runtime figure and no wattage published for this garment at all
- Four zones on 35.4 Wh is the thinnest energy-per-zone budget in ororo's range
- Down is the wrong insulation in sustained wet, heated or not
Who this suits
Someone who wants a real down jacket first and a heated one second, and who will buy a bigger pack alongside it.
Who should skip it
You expect the battery to carry the day. The down is the product here; the 35.4 Wh is a top-up.
Spec sources: ororo — Men's Heated Down Jacket, RDS Down & 4 Heating Zones ("90% 750-fill power duck down", Responsible Down Standard certified; 4 carbon fiber elements across "left & right pocket, collar, mid-back"; 3 settings; ships the "7.4V Mini 5K battery", published as "4800 mAh, 7.4V, and 35.4Wh", "charges in just 4 hours with the included 5V3A charger", "rechargeable up to 800 times"; 3-piece detachable down-filled hood; five YKK zipper pockets) · ororo — Heated Apparel Battery Guide (capacity, voltage and output for every pack)

ororo Men's 4-Zone USB-C Heated Puffer Vest
USB-C matters more than it sounds: the pack recharges from the same brick as your phone and your laptop, which removes the proprietary-charger failure mode entirely.
The numbers
- Energy
- 37.6 Wh
- Pack
- ororo PD 5K, 5,075 mAh at 7.4 V
- Published output
- 2.5 A
- Recharge
- USB-C
- Heat zones
- 4
- Heat zones
- Left and right chest, mid-back, collar
- Settings
- Three
- Care
- Machine washable with the battery removed
On wattage: No published wattage. ororo does publish the pack's capacity, voltage and output current, which is three more useful numbers than most of this category prints.
What we like
- USB-C recharge kills the proprietary-brick problem, which is the most common way these packs get abandoned in a drawer
- Puffer insulation means the vest is warm before you switch anything on
- Published capacity, voltage and output amps — unusually complete for this category
What we do not
- Puffer bulk is real under a fitted coat
- Four zones on a 37.6 Wh pack is a thinner spread than three zones on the same energy
- Still no wattage figure
Who this suits
Someone who travels with the vest and does not want a second charger in the bag.
Who should skip it
You need it to disappear under a slim shell. It will not.

ororo PD 7K Rechargeable Battery for Heated Apparel
7,000 mAh of LG cells with a published 13.5-hour claim and a six-mark certification list — the biggest step up available to an ororo owner, because the larger PD 10K is not sold through this retailer.
#ad Price as of October 17, 2026. How we are funded.
The numbers
- Energy
- 51.8 Wh
- Capacity
- 7,000 mAh at 7.27 V — about 50.9 Wh
- Published output
- 30 W out, up to 24 W in
- Recharge
- Fully recharged within 3 hours
- Certification
- UL2056, CE, FCC, CB, WEEE, CA65 per ororo
- Heat zones
- Not applicable — this is a battery
- Settings
- Garment-dependent
- Care
- Not washable — remove before laundering the garment
On wattage: No garment wattage is published, but this pack states its own delivery figures: "up to 24W input" and "30W output". The 30 W output is a ceiling for charging devices rather than a figure any ororo garment draws — inverting the 13.5-hour claim against about 50.9 Wh gives roughly 3.8 W, which is the draw that claim actually assumes.
On the pack: Worth reading the voltage twice. This pack's own product page gives "7.27V", while ororo's battery guide lists the PD 7K at 7.4 V. At 7.27 V the 7,000 mAh works out to about 50.9 Wh; at 7.4 V it is 51.8 Wh. We use the figure printed on the product page itself and note the 2% disagreement rather than quietly picking the flattering one.
What we like
- The largest ororo pack actually purchasable here — roughly 43% more energy than the Mini 5K that ships with several ororo garments
- ororo publishes a real certification list, with UL2056 printed on the casing
- USB-C in and out at 30 W means it doubles as a fast phone bank
- Three-hour full recharge is quick for this capacity
What we do not
- ororo's own two pages disagree on the voltage — 7.27 V on the product page, 7.4 V in the battery guide
- No watt-hour figure printed for this pack, unlike ororo's Mini 5K and PD 5K pages
- The larger PD 10K exists in ororo's lineup but is not sold through this retailer
- Costs a meaningful fraction of a whole garment, which is the usual complaint about spare packs
Who this suits
An ororo owner whose garment shipped with a Mini 5K and who has discovered that the battery, not the jacket, is what ends their day.
Who should skip it
Your garment already ships a PD 5K or larger and your days are short. The jump from 37.5 Wh to 50.9 Wh is real but it is not transformative.
Spec sources: ororo — 7000 mAh PD 7K Rechargeable Battery ("7,000mAh" with "premium LG cells"; voltage given as "7.27V" on this page against 7.4 V in ororo's battery guide; "up to 24W input"; "30W output"; "fully recharged within 3 hours"; "up to 13.5 hours of heat"; "UL2056, CE, FCC, CB, WEEE, CA65 certified"; "1 USB-C Port, 1 USB-C Cable, 1 DC Port"; NTC sensor) · ororo — Heated Apparel Battery Guide (capacity, voltage and output for every pack)
And the thing that follows from it
Put the lineup next to the garments and a pattern appears that no single product page makes visible:
| Garment | Pack in the box | Energy | Price bracket |
|---|---|---|---|
| Down jacket, 750-fill RDS | Mini 5K | 35.4 Wh — the smallest | The most expensive here |
| 5-zone dual-control jacket | PD 5K | 37.5 Wh | Mid |
| Classic softshell jacket | B19G class | 38.5 Wh | Entry |
| USB-C puffer vest | USB-C pack | See the product | Entry |
The energy column does not rise with the price column. On a site built around watt-hours, that is the single most useful thing we can tell an ororo buyer.
The energy, converted
Watt-hours, and what they buy
Energy is capacity times nominal voltage. The ceiling draw is the pack’s own published output current times its voltage. The implied draw runs the maker’s advertised hours backwards. Nothing here is measured — check our working.
| Product | Capacity | Volts | Energy | Ceiling draw | Shortest runtime | Implied draw at the claim |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ororo Men's 5-Zone Dual-Control Heated Jacket with Sleeve Heating | 5,075 mAh | 7.4 V | 37.6 Wh | 18.5 W | 2h 02m | No claim published |
| ororo Men's Soft Shell Heated Jacket | 5,200 mAh | 7.4 V | 38.5 Wh | 18.5 W | 2h 05m | 15.4 Wat 2.5 h high |
| ororo Men's Heated Down Jacket (750-Fill RDS Down) | 4,800 mAh | 7.4 V | 35.5 Wh | 18.5 W | 1h 55m | No claim published |
| ororo Men's 4-Zone USB-C Heated Puffer Vest | 5,075 mAh | 7.4 V | 37.6 Wh | 18.5 W | 2h 02m | 3.8 Wat 10 h maker's headline claim |
| ororo PD 7K Rechargeable Battery for Heated Apparel | 7,000 mAh | 7.4 V | 51.8 Wh | 22.2 W | 2h 20m | 3.8 Wat 13.5 h maker's headline claim, with ororo apparel |
“Not derivable” means the manufacturer does not publish the figure the sum needs. We leave it blank rather than estimating it, borrowing a number from a similar model, or rounding one into existence. These are ceilings, not promises: cold, wind, movement and pack age all push real runtime below them. Run your own numbers.
ororo PD 7K Rechargeable Battery for Heated Apparel
- Energy in the pack
- (7,000 mAh ÷ 1000) × 7.4 V = 51.8 Wh
- Most the pack can deliver
- 7.4 V × 3 A = 22.2 W
- So the shortest possible runtime
- 51.8 Wh ÷ 22.2 W = 2h 20m
- And the draw the maker’s own claim assumes
- 51.8 Wh ÷ 13.5 h = 3.8 W — which is the maker's headline claim, with ororo apparel figure.

A mistake we made, and corrected
This page exists partly because of an error we found in our own data while building it, and it is worth showing rather than quietly fixing.
We had a product entry describing ororo's PD 10K — 10,150 mAh, 75.1 watt-hours, the largest pack in the lineup — with a buy link attached. Probing that ASIN directly returned a different product: "ORORO MINI 5K Rechargeable Battery for Heated Apparel". A reader clicking through for 75.1 Wh would have received 35.4.
The entry now points at the PD 7K, which is the largest ororo pack we could confirm as purchasable, with the PD 7K's own published figures. Two things are worth drawing from that:
- Listing titles and product identity drift apart in this category, especially on batteries where several models share a family name. The fix is to check the ASIN, not the link text.
- A site that publishes watt-hours has to be right about them. An energy figure attached to the wrong product is worse than no figure, because it looks checkable.
Which ororo
You want heated sleeves but not all day
The 5-zone dual-control jacket. Core and arms sit on separate controls, so you can run three zones instead of five and stretch the pack — a choice almost no other heated jacket lets you make once you have bought it.
You want the most jacket for the money
The Classic softshell. It is the garment that built ororo's reputation, it carries a mid-sized pack rather than the Mini 5K, and it is the entry price here.
You want real insulation
The down jacket, with 90% 750-fill RDS-certified duck down and a detachable down hood. No other garment on this site offers real down at that fill power. Buy a bigger pack with it — the box contains the smallest one ororo makes.
You already own the coat
The USB-C puffer vest, which layers under the shell you trust and charges off the cable you already carry.
Your days end before your jacket does
The PD 7K. 50.9 watt-hours, 30 W output, a three-hour recharge and a six-mark certification list. It is the single highest-value ororo purchase for anyone who already owns the garment.
How ororo compares on disclosure
| Brand | Cross-product battery guide | Watt-hours | Per-garment pack named |
|---|---|---|---|
| ororo | Yes — five packs listed | On some pages | Yes |
| Gobi Heat | No | On both packs | Yes |
| Fieldsheer | Lists eight packs, no capacities | Never | Yes, by model number |
| Lenz | No | Never — no voltage either | Yes |
| ActionHeat | No | Derivable | Yes |
ororo is the only one that publishes the whole lineup in one place. That is what makes the 2x spread visible — and what makes it fixable by the buyer.
What we would skip, and why
- Assuming "an ororo jacket" means one battery
- It does not. ororo's own guide lists five apparel packs — Mini 5K at 4,800 mAh, B19G at 5,200, PD 5K at 5,075, PD 7K at 7,000 and PD 10K at 10,150, all at 7.4 V. That is 35.4 Wh to 75.1 Wh, a spread of more than two to one, and the pack in the box is decided by the garment. Check which one you are getting before you compare an ororo against anything else.
- Paying more and expecting a bigger pack
- ororo's 750-fill down jacket is its most expensive garment on this page and it ships the Mini 5K — the smallest pack in the lineup, published by ororo as 35.4 Wh. Price tracks the garment, not the battery. If you buy at the top of the range, budget for a pack as well.
- Buying a listing titled PD 10K without checking the ASIN
- We got caught by this ourselves. A widely-linked listing described as the PD 10K resolves to the MINI 5K — we probed the ASIN directly and the title comes back "ORORO MINI 5K Rechargeable Battery for Heated Apparel". That is 35.4 Wh where you expected 75.1. The PD 10K exists in ororo's lineup but we could not find it purchasable through the retailer this site links to. Read the product title on the page you are actually buying from, not the one in the link text.
- The fleece vest - covered elsewhere, not skipped
- ororo's 4-zone heated sweater fleece vest is a sensible product and is purchasable; an earlier version of this page recorded it as unavailable, which is no longer true. It is not a pick here because this page ranks ororo's packs and flagship garments - the fleece vest earns its place as a ski mid-layer instead, and heated vests for skiing leads with it.
Our criteria, and what we did not do
- Every pack converted at the voltage ororo itself prints, which is not always the same figure on two ororo pages.
- Watt-hours taken from ororo where ororo states them — it publishes 35.4 Wh for the Mini 5K and 37.5 Wh for the PD 5K — and calculated from capacity and voltage where it does not.
- Which pack ships with which garment recorded per product, because that is the variable that actually changes the answer.
- ASINs probed individually rather than trusted from a listing title. That is how the PD 10K / Mini 5K mix-up above surfaced.
- We have not worn any of these. How we work.
We have not worn, tested or owned any of these products, and we say so on every page rather than in a footer. What we do instead is compile the published specifications and do the arithmetic. The full method.
Frequently asked
- Which battery comes with an ororo heated jacket?
- It depends on the garment, and the range is wide. ororo's guide lists five apparel packs: Mini 5K (4,800 mAh), PD 5K (5,075), B19G (5,200), PD 7K (7,000) and PD 10K (10,150), all at 7.4 V. That is about 35.4 Wh to 75.1 Wh. Check which one your chosen garment ships with before comparing it against another brand.
- How many watt-hours is an ororo battery?
- ororo publishes the figure for some packs itself - 35.4 Wh for the Mini 5K and 37.5 Wh for the PD 5K. For the others we convert from its published capacity and voltage: the B19G is about 38.5 Wh, the PD 7K about 50.9 Wh at the 7.27 V its product page states, and the PD 10K about 75.1 Wh.
- Does the most expensive ororo jacket have the biggest battery?
- No, and this is the most useful thing to know about the brand. The 750-fill down jacket is the priciest garment on this page and ships the Mini 5K, which ororo publishes as 35.4 Wh - the smallest pack in its lineup. Price tracks the garment, not the battery.
- What is the biggest ororo battery I can buy?
- The PD 10K at 10,150 mAh is the largest in ororo's published lineup, but we could not find it purchasable through the retailer this site links to. The largest one we could confirm is the PD 7K: 7,000 mAh, about 50.9 Wh, 30 W output and a three-hour recharge.
- Is ororo's dual-control jacket worth it over the Classic?
- If you will use the second control, yes. Dual control puts the arms on their own switch, so you can run three core zones instead of five and make the same pack last meaningfully longer. If you will leave everything on high anyway, the Classic softshell is the better value.
- Can you wash an ororo heated jacket?
- Yes - ororo states machine washable with the battery removed first. Washing heated clothing covers what those ratings survive in practice.

ororo versus Venustas: coverage against disclosure
Venustas gives you more zones. ororo tells you what is in the pack. Which trade to make, with both sets of figures.
